Tailor your resume to the posting without rewriting it every time

Resume Workshop is CareerPigeon's resume editor and tailoring tool. You import a PDF or DOCX once, and it turns the file into an editable resume plus a Career History of the individual items inside it. Paste a job posting after that and it drafts a version aimed at the role. You keep the last word on every line.

Where does a tailored draft come from?

You paste the job description, or a link to the posting, and the Workshop drafts a version of your resume against it. The draft is built from items already in your Career History. Each line is labeled with where it came from: an item you already had, a line written for this role, or something you added or edited yourself. Changed lines carry a short note on why they changed, and you can edit any of it before you download the PDF.

What is Career History?

Career History is the list of items the Workshop pulls out of your resume when you import it: roles, bullet points, skills, education entries. You can search it, reword an item, or set one aside so tailoring stops drawing on it. Deleted items go to Recently deleted and can be restored for a while before they are gone for good. Tailoring reads from this list, so a tailored draft reflects work already on your record.

Can you edit and format the resume itself?

Yes. Text is edited inline on the page, and you add or remove sections as you go. Font, type size, line spacing, section spacing and margins come from a design panel above the document. The preview paginates while you type, so you see the page break before you export. The resume you confirm here is also the one the Personal Recruiter matches openings against, which makes it the file worth keeping current.

What happens to versions you already made?

Each resume you tailor lands in Versions. Reopen one, download its PDF again, or delete it, and a deleted version can be restored before it clears for good. When a batch of similar roles goes out in the same week, Versions is how you check what you sent to the last one. Mark that application as tailored in the Application Tracker and the board will show which ones went out with a version written for the posting.

  • Import an existing resume from PDF or DOCX, or start blank
  • Career History of searchable, editable items taken from your resume
  • Tailor a resume to a pasted job description or a posting link
  • Per-line source labels and a reason for each change
  • Saved versions with PDF download and restore

Do I need to have a resume already?

No. You can import a PDF or DOCX if you have one, and the Workshop reads it into editable sections and a Career History. If you do not have a file yet, start a blank resume and build it up section by section. Either way you end up with the same editable document.

Will it make things up about my experience?

Tailoring works from the items in your Career History, and each line in a tailored draft is labeled with its source, so you can see what was reused and what was written for the role. Changed lines come with a short reason. Read the draft before you download it and edit anything that does not match how you would describe the work. You have the last word on every line.

What does Resume Workshop cost?

Signing up is free, and the free tier includes an allowance of tailored resumes. Paid plans raise it. Current pricing and what each plan includes are on the plan page.

Is my resume sent to an AI provider?

When you start tailoring, your career history and the items you made available may be sent to CareerPigeon's third-party AI provider. Contact fields are never included, and item text is sent as written, after screening for direct identifiers. The Workshop shows this notice where you start a tailoring run, before anything is sent.
